Dressing Mercenaries

I keep trying to dress my mercenaries, but whenever I put something on them it doesn't "stick". How do I dress my mercs?

you can equip mercenary the same way as hero but remember the equipment cant be bounded to anyone, must be mercenary class and cant be higher tier

Yes, the problem is most probably if you are trying to put a tier 2 equipment on a tier 1 merc for example.
