you can switch professions, so just try them all out .... the only bad side is that you'll also lose all crafting skill points you may have earned (however xp are unaffected

Tiers for the character and the crafting professions are based on your experience :
- basically, every 10 lvl equals to a Tier for the character and allows you to wear more powerful items, but also to "unlock" new maps. Tier 1 > lvl 1 to 9, Tier 2 > lvl 10 to 19, Tier 3 > lvl 20 to 29 ...
- for crafters, you get access to a new Tier when you have reached 101+ skill points in your profession

Once you are lvl 5, go to the Global view and look for the Imperial City .... that's where you'll be able to choose your professions

the heart of our complaint is with the type of reward rather than with the size of it.
if giving away 14-16 AP is too big and could unbalance the game, then better to reward us with 6-8 instead ... but that's still much better than getting 200-400 gold, and is very usuful for collecting raw ressources

I agree on this ... most quests for Tier 2 are either painfully slow (like getting/killing something with low average probability to find) or impossible to do (only Tier 2 provinces available), but the rewards are mostly uninteresting (more gold ?)
at least AP can provide a nice action boost to dig ressources.
and XPs are nice when you have to complete quests which takes lots of time on small creatures ... even more so, when conditions to level up have been made more difficult

in alpha ... I have 101+ in Carpenter Tier 1 and 2, and can chop 2-5 woods like it should be
