Questions / Siege battles (attacked by another guild) combat logs.
« on: June 22, 2010, 12:34:43 PM »
Is there any way I could see the combat log for siege battles ? Our castle got attacked today, we lost, but I'd like to see the combat logs if there's any way that's possible. I've noticed at least a few bothersome discrepancies in the fights. For instance a guardian merc with 7490 armor getting critted for 185 damage by a ranged (crossbow) mercenary, the ranged mercenary damage being 296-532. That shouldn't happen. What can I deduct mathematically is that basically the guardian merc mitigated in two folds. First the damage got mitigated to minimum damage because of the high armor then the crit (min damage*3) got mitigated again. That shouldn't happen as far as I know. Crits don't get mitigated like that. It's damage-(the ammount mitigated by armor*%bonuses).  I'm sure nobody understood anything ( :D) but maybe it can be looked into it or I can look into it if getting the logs is a possibility.

Thanks in advance.

P.S.

Actually the math fits to the decimals. If that guardian has guardian stance 7/7 then it fits.

Damage is 296*3 = 888 (whereas it should be 532*3)

Mitigation is 7490/12= 624

888-624= 264

Guardian stance reduces the damage with 30%.

So inflicted damage = 256*.07= 185.

The fight in question is in my profile, DMDM Realm 3, against 0ziris. I don't have time to look for more discrepancies right now but I bet there's more.

General Talk / New, "improved" fights.
« on: June 21, 2010, 12:04:08 PM »
I haven't played for a week or two (since the awesome experience revamp) and I had this place I been farming saved in Premium Travel. Lvl 47-49 mobs, 2 normal 4 rare. All good. Went there and to my surprise the place got changed so it includes small basiliks. OK. I thought I would try and not whine but this is kind of overdoing it. It's a normal plain fight. Not a boss fight or anything. Take a look at the basiliks and especially the rare one (blued out), really.

OK. I understand this new trend of changing the fights in a way that would make them more challenging, regardless of class and mercenary set up. See "Cold Desert" and the sort, where a rare mob and/or mobs with fast (or equivalent ability) were added.
But why change a fight where you already had (up to 4) rare ranged mobs with petrify ability by adding the chance of getting 3 more mobs with a billion armor that hit for loads (read one shot non-plate wearers) and dread for 16% chance. I mean what for ? Pull all the fun out of the game ? If that was the aim then "Bullseye" ! Sure, "If you can't beat that dungeon go and try something else". Why have such a dungeon tho ? And it's not the only one place, mind you. It is natural for people to try and fight/find the path of minimum resistance and for you to try and make it a bit harder if it looks like a walk in the park. However, this is kind of overdoing it.

Bugs / Premium vanished
« on: June 09, 2010, 09:50:50 AM »
As the title suggests my premium "buttons" just went off (grayed out). I got another good 1 month of premium features on one account (DMDM) and a week or so on another (NMNM) and one of them partially (mystic/crafter/merchant) expires today (MDMD). I mean you can still can see the date which is not today but when I try to use "Instant Travel Plus" for example it tells me to extend the feature. Given the current changes to the game I don't want to extend anything so... how about letting me to use what I already payed for.

P.S.

The "watch price for resources" buttons are haywire as well. Accounts are DMDM, NMNM, MDMD on Realm 3, I tried under Firefox and Chrome.

P.P.S.

Looks like my guild mate cositos83 has the same problem and he reported it on the spanish forums.

P.P.P.S.

Looks like the auction watcher doesn't work properly as well. I have 12 or so items with one bid on and it shows me 0/0.

Questions / Changes to experience.

http://forum.imperialhero.org/int/index.php?topic=9346.0
Why ? I mean mercenaries are a tool. Why forcing me to use them ? Why preventing players from going faster through content ? Why basically penalizing the players that know the game/work for their gear and are able to solo hard fights ? I mean after all the artificial, rule bending, obstacles now this... Kind of disappointing. To say the least.

Mechanics / Whirlwind bug
« on: May 31, 2010, 09:56:46 AM »
It looks like whirlwind won't try and hit all mobs every time. As you can see from the combat log it tries to hit 4 out 5 mobs, with whirlwind 5/5 (1+5 opponents). It's not the first time it happened and I think it's the same with volley. There is no parry visible either in log or visual in battle. The mob it's just plainly ignored.

Speaking of bugs my 260 strength (after the -8% opponent's Battle Shout) should reduce the parry of "Barbarian - Sword Warrior" with 26 points according to "How to play" description of strength. Level modifier is 1 so they don't have any bonuses. However, the parry is reduced with 10 points. Why is that ?

P.S.

Character name NMNM, Realm 3.

P.P.S.

I blued another section which is a text bug. Crushing Blow adds 120% to attack should be Crushing Blow adds 120 to attack without the "%".

I hear you have a reputation of a descent crafter. Let me tell you something, my friend. Words don’t impress me. Deeds do. So, if you are half good as they say, it won’t be a problem for you to make me 5  of Crude Opal Ring, right? Now get to work and get back to me when you’re done.

I think it should be decent instead. Unless I would need to descent somewhere to complete the quest. : )

Although you might think this is sarcasm it isn't. I, for one, am ecstatic about the new "Instant Travel Plus" feature. I think is the coolest thing since sliced bread. No more "You are travelling to a No man's land..." -> click close and/or "Instant travel". So yeah. Cheers !

I don't know if it's related to "Instant Travel Plus" feature being implemented today but the two resources you are supposed to be able to watch (as price) aren't saving anymore. Tested it in Chrome and Firefox.

Should we take this post here http://forum.imperialhero.org/int/index.php?topic=7010.0 as a confirmation to the fact that the game is released hence beta is over ? I mean I took it as such but there are people out there impervious to common sense. Just trying to get an official confirmation. Thanks in advance.

Heroes / Ranger/Shadow Hunter Tier 5 questions.
« on: May 10, 2010, 10:33:51 PM »
After 41 levels of throwing spears at people I decided to change spec. So I am asking you, the more experimented Shadow Hunters out there.

Preamble.

I do not plan on fighting any kind of beasts. Ever. I'm a weaponsmith/carpenter so I don't need any hides or bones. Other than that I can't think of anything I'd want from the poor animals besides better experience per fight but then again I'm in Tier 5 so nowhere to go. Again, no beasts. Ever.

Questions :

1. What constitutes "light-armored humanoids" from the description of "Burning Arrow". Is it an amount ? Are there any  "light-armored humanoids" in Tier 5. I have a merc with "Burning arrow 4" or some-such and I can't say I ever seen that skill used in combat log.
2. Does "Head shot" work in conjunction with volley ? I.e. will the first volley hit (if successful) for damage+"Head Shot" ?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

Questions / Gathering resources chance (%)
« on: May 04, 2010, 10:03:18 AM »
As far as I read on forums the chances are like so:

Rare - 0 - 20%
Less likely - 20 - 50%
More likely 50 - 75%
Most likely  75- 99 %
Certain  - 100 %

Does that mean that using an yellow tool on a rare spot would give you 0%+0%x1.5=0%-30% ? I know there are better spots (very slightly better when we're talking T5 wood) but I have a quest that asks me to gather in a "rare" spot. Got zero results so far even using the legendary axe. Given the price of the tool it should get you out of the rare zone, at least.

P.S.

Using the tool and gathering in a "Less likely" spot doesen't do pretty much anything either. Not visually (that means the shown chance stays on "Less likely") nor per se.Same results with or without the legendary axe. Kind of upsetting.

Bugs / Counterattack on a stick not working properly (at all).
« on: April 30, 2010, 02:49:55 PM »
Work case:

Level 31 Mystic, Realm 3, name Woswaldo.

Excerpts from the combat log, relevant part in red:

Quote
Team 2 takes turn
Damage reduced from 128.457 with 8
Heretic - Archer hits Woswaldo for 120.457 and the latter is left with 767.16 health.

Plain lion 4.53/22.777777777778 Block successful.
Woswaldo tries to counterattack Plain lion.
Woswaldo hits Plain lion for 63.7877484 and the latter is left with 768.21 health.
Monster kills bonus adds 8% to damage.

Plain lion 98.77/35 hit evaded.
Heretic - Archer 2.18/22.777777777778 Block successful.
Woswaldo tries to counterattack Heretic - Archer.
Woswaldo hits Heretic - Archer for 80.539827133333 and the latter is left with 335.46 health.
Monster kills bonus adds 6% to damage.

The fight is still available in his profile, it's the last one (first from the top), the combat quote is from 7th turn.

The mob in question has 367 armor.

Now for the calculations

80.53 (the damage inflicted)/1.06 (given the 6% bonus from monster kill bonus)+367/15 (armor mitigation, 24.46 damage mitigation)=100.4317 total damage inflicted before mitigation.

Now, the character in question has 3/6 in counterattack hence he counterattacks with 45% of the damage. 100.4317/0.45=223.1816 which is in line with the paper doll shown damage, 221 given the round ups and whatnot.

The problem is the character in question has a staff equipped that provides Counterattack +3. So he should have Counterattack 6, therefore should hit for 80% of the damage mitigated by armor etc.

I verified with another character that has plain 6/6 counterattack (MDMD, realm 3) and she hits for 80% from the maximum damage shown on paper doll, mitigated by armor, obviously.

The only viable conclusion is that the bonus doesn't work.

P.S.

The character in question (Woswaldo) has downgraded (hence re-skilled) Counterattack 3 given the fact that you can't have more than max rank using bonus skill items  :o

General Talk / I'm baffled.

Dear IH team,

I can understand the effort put into creating a game. I can understand things being unclear through the creating process, that including in this case alpha and beta stages of the game. You announced the end of beta. I didn't asked for anything but information that should be clearly available. What I got is :

Quote
Sir.
Just try different variations and create your own formulae if that will make you happier.
As we told you several times, all the calculations and mechanics will be present in the game's official manual.
And... even then, when you know all the mechanics and the formulae, you will still not be able to create the perfect hero.
Trust me.

Just... play the game and if you don't like it the way it is at the moment... well, we can't do much to make you think otherwise.
One thing is for sure though - we will surely not tell you how to play.
Because... how fun will it be if you know everything up front?

Have a nice time playing the game, sir.

Best Regards:
IH Team

The topic will be closed.

The information I asked is available up front in your post here :

http://forum.imperialhero.org/int/index.php?topic=2523.0

The only problem is the information is wrong and/or outdated. As long as you don't have a problem taking my money now why do I have to wait for the official game manual ? It's a simple question that has a simple answer. But yet again you go at length, writing 10 lines of text, insulting my intelligence while at it, when the answer is a number. I couldn't care less for your politeness as long as what you do is shun me down. I'd rather be called stupid and given the correct information. Did I asked anywhere "Hey , how do I play the game ?" ? Get down from your high horse and do what you're supposed to do. You are insulting every player in this game when you basically expect me to pay and just click a button waiting for a random effect. You're as helpful as a heart attack, really.

I know I risk another forum ban or worse but honestly in 10 years + of online gaming going from Ultima Online to this game through probably another 10 MMORPG's I haven't found anything remotely close to this level of disrespect towards a paying customer. Yeah, paying and don't give me that line about how I don't have to. I and the other people buying diamonds pay your bills.

Rant off.

Questions / More battle mechanics (and not only) questions.
« on: April 10, 2010, 02:05:39 PM »
Yes my mind never stops wondering. I am what you can call a theorycrafter.

1. Which attribute decrease the opponent's chance to crit ? I know it must be one, and I suspect is agility but I don't know for sure if that's the case and if so what exactly is the mechanics/percentage behind it. Can't say I could see pull out formula from my battle reports. Before someone asks, no I wasn't battling dark mages that have an ability (Losing Focus) that is supposed to do just that. I am talking plain, normal, with no visible, cast-able abilities/spells.

2. "Marauder - Archer doesn't have an opponent, therefore he chooses "Player". Level difference modifier is 1.3 ."
How does the level difference modifier actually work ? What does it mean ? Is it about experience gain ? Or does the mob gets buffed so you basically are penalized for trying to out-gear the content ? As a note, question 1. is about situations where both opponents have the same level.

3. Blocking. Let me see if I got it right: the mob tries to hit you and you have a chance of blocking it, that is [( sum of items block)*1.masteries-(opponent's strength/10)]/100. OK. Now. I got some really weird numbers. I mean half of what I would expect to block. Actually this more of a reassurance than a question. The blocking does apply only to successful hits right ? I mean the order is Mob inittates the attack -> roll to see if the hit is evaded -> roll to see if the successful hit is blocked. Or does the block percentage applies to all hits, the ones evaded included ? I'd throw the same question with crit% aswell. Does crit% imply crit% from all successful hits or from all hits, evaded and blocked hits included ? I know I can't really make an idea from a single or two fights, I know how random numbers work but I can't simulate it given the otherwise limited length of a fight so I'm asking you.

4. Now to a more frustrating question. How does  items drop chance and quality work ? Is there an item budget per mob and/or class of mobs ? I read and understood that the value is proportional to the difference of level. In the sense that (your level < mob level) will grant you more value and as you go (your level >>>>> mob's level) you will get the hole from the doughnut. Makes perfect sense. If it wouldn't be like this people would farm multi-dungeons and we would all wear yellow at least. All good. But... I, being level 23, have done "Pirate's Den". The end, legendary, boss is level 24. Legendary. I had (together with the 3 mercenaries) 106% (capped at 100%) item drop chance. And I got a pair of ugly boots, an amulet and a stick all plain white quality. Am I that unlucky ? Did I missed something ? Does the mercenaries level have a saying in this ? Was I supposed to solo my way through to get the greens ? I'd like to be enlightened.

That'd be all for today, thanks for reading.
