There is no official announcement but usually is close to major events or holidays...
Such as September when the schools are starting, or when Xmas holidays start...

It is possible!
It was noticed before and we confirmed that it's not bug!
You can check it at "how to play" at sets display.
Now the reasons behind this are mystery!
Perhaps an error they don't want to admit, perhaps in order to have more people with crafting sets... I don't know and I don't really care to learn the reason for that...

It was supposed to be seen for the first time during January 2012... But then programmers informed about the world end at 12/12/2012 and then someone show them the move "2012".... That was it! They abandon the project and they half of them are digging shelter under the IO's office dungeon, when the other half are trying to build an arc... Oton proposed to build a death star but none followed his plan....
So until 12/12/2012 we will not have any news! Then if the world end... Who will care about IH v2... and if not the programmers will return to their original occupation... and perhaps someday finish their job! (unlike their never ending punishment & nightmare)

After we talked at chat a little more I can see why you are angry...
In the past you bought for the same amount of money the double diamonds. But IO money/diamonds rates (aka prises) hasn't change!
This means that either Croatian SMS provider increased his charges either new phone taxes applied to your country!
Either way, count the SMS you send in order to verify the times you bought with SMS. After that contact support and explain/complain about the issue! I believe they will be glad to hear about it!
And perhaps they seriously consider finding another cheaper SMS provider for your country!
Also at future I suggest you to use Pay-pal... Yes you be able to buy only bigger amount of diamonds and spend at once bigger amounts of money but at least that way, the prizes are stable and the transaction is easy!
If you don't know how and you are interested, either contact a friend of yours who buys stuff from E-bay either ask here to explain you the way you can use Pay-pal.

Yes it would be bad game design if this was a single player game! But it's multiplayer and interaction with other players is must... So this is not a game's flaw.
As for the original question.
Crafting quests are given to you is to craft an item (the game selects one of your already learned recipes, not your secondary profession!)
Gathering quests are given to you is collect raw material (the game checks your secondary profession in order to chose the material!)
At first case:
You have learned a recipe means that you are able to craft it! But many recipes require a lot of resources that we are not able to gather them all by ourselves. (such as wood, hides, stones etc) what you do? 4 ways to obtain them.
1) Join/create guild and exchange materials inside the guild
2) Buy them from the market (auction is instant when you are buying doesn't take time as previously someone said)
3) Use several accounts (multi-account doesn't conflict with game rules)
4) Attack other players who are gathering resources to dangerous/no-man's land provinces hopping they are gathering the resources you need and then find someone to craft them for you (again second account or guild may required!)

Well Spartacus is not "war" series from my little experience... But if you like it then try HBO's Rome and Game of thrones.
As war series I suggest Band of Brothers and (some how inferior) Pacific.
Also a weird series that if you manage to pass the first episodes where you will believe that you are unable to understand and that the writers are monkeys, I suggest a magic (for me and some friends) series with the name "Carnival" but it's not war or has to do anything with war series.
If I have any other suggestions I will post again...

Don't worry there are active players at Realm 4!
But realm 3 and then realm 2 I believe are more populated!
And no you don't lose your recipe or any items at auction! If none buy them they will be returned to your inventory and if there is no place to your cache. Items can only lost if they are in cache for too long!

Realm 4 is something like a ghost... It's only for Slavic nations or generally western Europe... I think!
As for the realm you are:
At the main menu (there you are able to see "map, crafting" etc) you will see a "My profile" button.
If you press that you will be able to see your profile. Under your avatar's picture you can see the realm you are.

There is no possible way to transfer items between realms...
Also register at realm 1 is (semi-?)closed!
