Questions / Gathering resources chance (%)

As far as I read on forums the chances are like so:

Rare - 0 - 20%
Less likely - 20 - 50%
More likely 50 - 75%
Most likely  75- 99 %
Certain  - 100 %

Does that mean that using an yellow tool on a rare spot would give you 0%+0%x1.5=0%-30% ? I know there are better spots (very slightly better when we're talking T5 wood) but I have a quest that asks me to gather in a "rare" spot. Got zero results so far even using the legendary axe. Given the price of the tool it should get you out of the rare zone, at least.

P.S.

Using the tool and gathering in a "Less likely" spot doesen't do pretty much anything either. Not visually (that means the shown chance stays on "Less likely") nor per se.Same results with or without the legendary axe. Kind of upsetting.

I'm pretty sure there was an "official" post somewhere that was saying that the bonus on items won't make you go over maximum skill.
i.e. having retaliate 4 and using that hasta that has retaliate 4 won't get you to 8 because something like that doesn't exist, maximum rank being 7. I will look for it an quote it here when I get the chance.

Edit:

Can't find the post, might have been included in the game's "News" section which now I can't see anymore. Regardless, if that's what the mechanics are then that's what the mechanics are. I'll just know to stay away from that kind of items. Can't say I see any kind of logic for those bonuses if they don't stack with what you already have besides making the process of crafting/finding a good item way harder but that's just me.

Lock the topic, it's "working as intended".

Bumping with the fact that I recently got a really awful epic hasta which has retaliate 4. I have base 4/7 in retaliate so when retaliate proccs it gives me 12% crit rate. With the hasta equipped the combat log looks like this :

DMDM tries to use the skill Ambush    that adds 10% to his Critical Hit Chance.

Monster kills bonus adds 2% to damage.

Not working at all. Can we have a saying on this ?

It's true I didn't tried it but for one thing I have some experience with the other elite quest for one thing and I stand firm on my opinion about rewards being redundant for another. Don't let my pessimistic nature spoil your fun though :) Good luck with it !

@ Crassus Point taken, I removed the "irrelevant" stuff.
@ Curion I'm not trying to be gloom about it but think of it this way. By the time (actually WAY before) you get that hammer you'd (and not only you, mercenaries included) have to be probably decked in epics crafted from epic Lvl 49 recipes, and that's the only purpose I see for that hammer. So I find it a bit redundant. Like most of the rewards from the quests, to be totally honest. But hey ! It might be just me.

Work case:

Level 31 Mystic, Realm 3, name Woswaldo.

Excerpts from the combat log, relevant part in red:

Heretic - Archer 2.18/22.777777777778 Block successful.
Woswaldo tries to counterattack Heretic - Archer.
Woswaldo hits Heretic - Archer for 80.539827133333 and the latter is left with 335.46 health.
Monster kills bonus adds 6% to damage.


The fight is still available in his profile, it's the last one (first from the top), the combat quote is from 7th turn.

The mob in question has 367 armor.

Now for the calculations

80.53 (the damage inflicted)/1.06 (given the 6% bonus from monster kill bonus)+367/15 (armor mitigation, 24.46 damage mitigation)=100.4317 total damage inflicted before mitigation.

Now, the character in question has 3/6 in counterattack hence he counterattacks with 45% of the damage. 100.4317/0.45=223.1816 which is in line with the paper doll shown damage, 221 given the round ups and whatnot.

 The problem is the character in question has a staff equipped that provides Counterattack +3. So he should have Counterattack 6, therefore should hit for 80% of the damage mitigated by armor etc.

 I verified with another character that has plain 6/6 counterattack (MDMD, realm 3) and she hits for 80% from the maximum damage shown on paper doll, mitigated by armor, obviously.

The only viable conclusion is that the bonus doesn't work.

P.S.

The character in question (Woswaldo) has downgraded (hence re-skilled) Counterattack 3 given the fact that you can't have more than max rank using bonus skill items  :o

Not looking that much for freebies but there are two dungeon boss fights with no apparent reward besides the obvious experience/gold. Nice final reward tho. If it's attainable :)

I don't know if this is "New" or not, since I couldn't find any info about it on forums, but if you reset your professions and just change your secondary profession (i.e. Jewel crafting/gem cutting to Jewel crafting/ mining) you won't lose anything from the main profession, including the "one time" recipes. I hope it's not a bug :) Can we get a confirmation on this ?

He's a bit frustrated about his armorer/miner having to craft leather based armors for storyline quests probably. I pointed out (as a suggestion on the respective forum) that would make sense for the game to "read" the second profession as well (i.e. getting the quest to crafting metal based armors as a miner and leather based armors as a tanner etc.) but my idea got dismissed. On the other hand given the price of ore and ingots I don't think getting the leather you need should be a problem :)

There is a "button" called "Engage" on the left upper corner of the "paper doll" ( the image of the merc). Check that and you will be able to use them.

I hate to butt in but actually the vitality + 4 is from "Agate..." item. The item in question is blue, hence rare, hence it should have one more additional attribute. Be it extra vitality or something else.

A bit off-topic but, since I think I pointed out the quest chain to you :D, let me ask you this. How doable are "Ice Axe" and "The school of archery" at level 34-35 ? Decent geared mercs, 2 taunters 1 whirlwinder 1 volley archer 1 hp buffer/healer ? Thanks.
