hero can equip item that mercanary from same class and tier can't

this happened several times. sometimes at at shop when I move cursor over some item it's buyable/equipable but when I try to compare it with one of my mercenaries ( same class and tier ) it shows the red message "the item is not for your class"

Mercs ,tier 2 at least,  can't equip heavy shields, instead guardian warriors can.
And some armors can be used only after lvl. 15, for tier 2 rangers.

the merc in question is a tier 3 archer, and this last item issue was with a tier 3 helmet...
the thing is that when I'm on my char's screen and move the cursor over that helmet at the store it seems to be okay to equip it, but when I am at the merc's screen and do the same, the message appears

merc is precisely same class and tier as char

hero ranger after reaching level 15 can equip medium armours and maybe this is not implemented for mercs yet. this is what i thinking about it

my hero only when I reached lvl 20 could equip what I think could be considered as a "medium javelin"
