Tier 1 Gems !

I did search in forums but couldn't find the proper answer so am asking here .

I picked jeweler/stonecutter as crafting , now most of what I read saying that I have to be lv10 before I can dig for gems but at lv10 the tier 2 regions r open up so how can I lvl up my tier 1 first ? I mean will I be able to dig in starting area when I reach lv10 or I can find tier 1 gems in tier 2 zones ?

Also I read that I can get gems dropped from kills , that didn't work for me . I did over 50 battles and not a single gem dropped as loot .

First, there is a topic above yours- FAQ.

It is said "precious gems"- no Tier specified and for a reason- opal, agate, topaz, emerald and moonstone can be found in any province. In Tier 1 you can win these only from battles and it is a matter of luck. In tier 2 and above- you can also mine them.
