Is it possible to make profit from the profession
« on: August 23, 2009, 02:47:37 PM »
I'm Tier1 Jeweller+Stonecutter
To craft let's say Crude Lucky Amulet I need 2 copper Ingots + Topaz Gem
Let's evaluate the prices (based on the situation on the market at the moment). I do not consider buying resources for diamonds since pricing there is even more chaotic than gold pricing.

Copper Ingot ~ 250*2 = 500 for 2 of them
Topaz ~ 2000 for some other attribute gemstone (Topaz was sold only for Diamonds at the moment I looked). Completely crazy pricing IMO. So lets forget about cutting the gem myself and try to buy ready one.
Topaz Gem ~ 1200 the cheapest at the moment. Funny that already cut gem can be bought cheaper than the raw Topaz.
So in total it is about 1500-2000 Gold.

What we have in return is a Crude Lucky Amulet, lets have a look how much it costs on the market...
Crude Lucky Amulet ~ less than a 100 gold.

So - what is the sence in Jeweller+Stonecutter professions? It looks like mining is the only profitable pro. Maybe I miss something being new to this game... Please share your experience with crafting and different professions. What are your ways of making profit?

Yes, the prices are what I saw in the Hope Village auction.  Odd market...

The thing is that it is a lot easier if you are in a guild. People can give you resources and you give them rings and amulets in exchange. Once you reach legendary or epic items you can sell them for lots of gold or diamonds.
