Ranger - Ghost Stalker with one handed sword and shield

hi,

are there any rangers with one handed swords..... Cause i could not find any at least in tier 2 -3?

Are there any in tier 4-6?

What do you think is sword good weapon for rangers?

I never thought a ranger with sword...
Bladed bow, perhaps... sword never

Well if you equip with a sword (yes you can do it!)  you will "lose" some of the good stuff that makes you a ranger... such as range...



ps. even shadow hunters can equip with sword...

Hi,

I am doing pretty well being as a ranger with a sword (got inspired from Archer character of Fate/Stay Night anime )
Range is only for 5 rounds at max.... i have no trouble not having it....I may start slow all right but i catch up...

I believe one handed sword is a better weapon than sticks, knives, daggers or bows
heres how:
Problems with other weapons:
Javelins - 12 round limit....
throwing knives - max damage too low..
daggers - good with dual wield only
bows - not good against high armored beings.......
crossbows - its 2 handed... reduces attributes

but swords have better minimum and maximum Hit...has block too..with shield its a gr8 combination of attack and defense..
(my battles go into several rounds i don't mind that cause i out last the enemy even groups of 4-6 same lvl or +2 )

i do not like anything two handed because it takes away one additional equipment -
shield which not only gives armor & block but also a chance to add more attributes to your hero..

I just wounder how people just completely ignore that fascinating aspect of the ranger.
I'd like to hear from experienced players on their thoughts.

You know, you can equip two throwing knives with Dual Wield too. And this gives you a pretty high max damage, Agi and Dex (crithit chances too). Add some Str to the equation and you have a suddendeath machine.

About a ranger with OH sword- good for tier 2 and 3. From tier 4 and on the skills of both specialisations simply make other weapons a far better choice (some bows in tier 5 give you 9 range with Eagle eye skill)

Thats true ....but i guess dual wield is only possible in tier 4 or 5 right? I know that it requires 7 points in each weapon category right?

I am lvl 3 now and its a smooth sail for me..i fight solo most of the time..and..bring up a healer mystic and guardian  to make a nice team of 3...

I am cool with it for now...will have to see how tier 4 will shape up with this strategy...

Dual wield requires Tier 5 (sort of), but I think there are Tier 4 mercs with the skill. So, when you level up to 30, you might consider the idea.

You've got my full support on that. Even if most people believe your build can not be as good as some other builds, it's up to you to prove them wrong. I myself am always fond of people who try to play out of the box.

(For example, I personally plan my tier 5 as a Fury Warrion with block and evade as my base damage output. )

The game needs some variety and guys like us can can change the way its played.....

What I was saying is that OH swords are not the best choice for Stalkers in tier 5 due to the specific skills of the stalkers. However, I have three ranger class mercs in tier 2 and I will equip all of them with saphire OH swords- these are even way better than the emerald javelins! I will stick to swords in tier 3 too perhaps. But I won't use this tactic afterwards.

Well I think its a personal choice...frankly I am inspired by an anime character of FATE/STAY NIGHT...called ARCHER
He was a archer class fighter but he chose to fight with swords.... in fact he had the power to create swords at will...
