9/10 1st story mission

Im on the first storyline mission and on part 9/10 in two separate realms.  It says to check out the Deer lake and look for hostages.  I've fought like 40 times (between 2 characters), and still am not showing complete in my journal.  Am I doing something wrong?  Please help

You only need to go to the lake and back to village. You don't have to fight. The quest will be shown as "Complete" when you're back in the tavern.
