Item can't be used by anyone

I just bought a shield off the market. The item won't stick to my character (ranger), my mystic merc or my warrior merc. All three classes and the shield won't stick. The shield is tier 2, and so are all of my characters. Is this a bug or a feature?
I sure hope this is a bug because I'm feeling ripped off right now....

when you bought this shield, was there information it is not for your class?

Yes, the shield popup said that it was not for my class, because my class is a Ranger. But I thought (I had to guess!) that it would work for my Warrior merc. This is a good example of why this suggestion should be implemented.

How can I tell which class an item can be used by?

No, the item was not a heavy shield. It was a round shield, shown below.


Where can I hire a guardian? The merc shop I see only has mystics, rangers and warriors.

We will change the tool-tip and it will display the item's class.
If the item can be equipped by the hero, the item class will be green colored.
If it cannot, the item class will be red colored.

The item can be used only by a guardian - a warrior who has already chosen a specialization after level 15. Are you passed level 15 ?

Do Merc's greater than level 15 come with a specialization already chosen ?? ................. or, if his merc <=level 15, will he get the chance to choose a specialization after level 15 ??

The warrior merc is lvl 18.
I'm hoping that isolde is not saying that ONLY if my main character was a Warrior (who then became a guardian with a specialization) would I be able to use this shield. That seems silly to me. A warrior is still a warrior, regardless of what his crafting specialty is....(imho)

this is not about crafting speciality. each hero when reach level 15 have 2 ways to choice. warrior can be fury warrior or guardian. fury warrior have skills which give him bonus to offensive playing like bonus to critical hits and guardian have skills with bonuses to armour and shields. thats way only guardian can be equipped with heavy shields

I guess that mercs tier 2 are without specialization and because of it your merc warrior can not use heavy shields. I have merc tier 3 with mace, armour and shield masteries ergo a typical guardian. He is equiped with heavy shield tier 3 and wears it without any problem. Check your merc warrior - I bet he doesn't have any guardian abilities. Guardians and guardians only can use heavy shields.

That is exactly what I am thinking as well.  Whether the merc is classified as a guardian or not, depends on his skill and I dont know what are the merc's skills - so the only person who COULD wear the shield would be Geomaticus if he were a warrior, which he is not as he wrote and I missed.

I think this points out an information gap. The intended user of an item should be clear when viewing the item - in the game, not after discussing it on the forum. Presently, I am told that the item is not in my Hero's class, but I thought that my warrior merc could use it - I had to guess. Thankfully, this is acknowledged by Oton earlier and the popups will be modified to identify not 'who cannot use this item' but 'who can use this item'.
