The human brain doesn't have an endless capacity (people are limitted due to the boundaries of their finite existance). So refusing to learn to swim only means prefering to keep some spare room for more important and useful knowledge... I can't swim either.

That remind me a Married with Children episode where the brother tried to help his sister to pass the class... After they finish the lesson the door bell rings and with horror the sister says "What was that?!?!" The father looks at his son and he "I had to sacrifice some basic knowledge due to limited capacity"....
