Hooded Ones

I need help.

I have tried to defeat the hooded ones many times all with less than optimum results.  I am a LVL 17 Ranger with pretty good stats and have two mercs with close to 1000 health and decent weapons.  Problem is, I get to the fourth stage and get destroyed.  One merc got wasted by one hit from a maurauder.  What am I doing wrong?  Someone please help!
