Dual Wield
« on: July 01, 2010, 01:51:43 PM »
Hi, as I don't know exacly how it works and I don't want to waste 50 diamonds (changing skills) I would like to know if I have to learn all the weapon masteries to level 7 with the shield mastery to level 7 too or just all the weapon masteries to level 7 . I play with a hunter as a character and the next question is when I unlock the dual wield then the first level is enough to use two one handed weapons?

Yes, you need to learn even the shield mastery. The explanation (as far as I recall) is: weapon masteries "train" the right hand, shield mastery is needed to
train" you left hand. And for dual wield a hero needs both hand, so that's why you need all these skills to be at lvl 7.
And yes, even one skill point at Dual wield is enough to unlock the skill. However, a shadow stalker can use ONLY two daggers simultaneously. Still, their damage, block, critical, attribute and % bonusses stack up (so you will have extra 40% Agi and Dex).
A fury warrior with the Dual wield skill can equip one-handed swords.

Ok thanks for the reply ... I ask cause in the explanation don't say nothing about Shield mastery but somewhere (I don't remember where) I saw that someone talks about shield mastery so that's why I ask... javelins can't be used as one handed weapon in dual wield?

Well, you can still use javelines, but you won't be able to equip a second weapon in this case. The only way a ghost stalker can use two weapons at the same time is equping two daggers. No other combos are allowed (I thought I heard once a word or two from the devs about allowing throwing knives + dagger combo, but I don't know if the idea got any further in theit plans than being mentioned).

Hm strange ... the rule says that one handed weapons only can be equipped ... all the weapons that dark stalker uses are one handed ... javelins and throwing knifes are same part as dagger is ... you can carry them with shield ... ok thanks for the help my friend, I will wait a little maybe someone else would say his/her opinion.

Yes, it's strange and illogical from realistic point of view, I agree.
But sometimes we have to sacrifice a little bit of the logic for the sake of gameplay balance.
Javelins will be a way overkill if you can throw them in both your hands. Battles will usually over in 1-2 rounds.
Same is with the throwing knives although we are discussing whether to make them eligible for dual wield, but we will have to test them extensively first.
Plus, the daggers grant massive bonuses to the Stalker's Agility and Dexterity which more than compensates their lower damage.
So all cool here, nothing to see, move along.
